【摘要】:PipeandductinsulationsystemsareoftenevaluatedwithTestMethodE84tocomplywithbuildingormechanicalcoderequirements.Thispracticedescribes,indetail,specimenpreparationandmountingproceduresforsingle-componentpipeorductinsulationsystemsandformulti-componentpipeorductinsulationsystems.Thematerial,system,composite,orassemblytestedshallberepresentativeofthecompletedinsulationsystemusedinactualfieldinstallations,intermsofthecomponents,includingtheirrespectivethicknesses.Pipeandductinsulationsystemsconsistofavarietyofmaterialsandconstructions.Sometestinglaboratorieshavedevelopedanumberofprotocolsfortestingpipeorductinsulationsystemswhichutilizeonegenerictypeofmaterials,allofthemwithaninsulationcoreandajacket.Thoseprotocolsaretheoriginofthispractice,whichmakesthemgeneric,toreducematerialbiasinthestandard;theyhaveresultedintheprocedurespresentedin6.1.Theprocedurespresentedin6.2-6.5addressothertypesofpipeorductinsulationsystems.Thispracticeaddressesspecimenpreparationandmountingofsystemsofthetypesdescribedin5.5.1-5.5.3andtestingofsupplementarymaterialsasdescribedin5.6.Multi-componentsystemscontaininganinsulationcoreandajacket,withorwithoutadhesivebetweeninsulationcoreandjacket,notintendedtobebondedtoapipeorductsubstrate.Specimenpreparationandmountingforsuchsystemsisdescribedin6.1iftheyareself-supportingandin6.2iftheyarenotself-supporting.Singlecomponentsystems,notintendedtobebondedtoapipeorductsubstrate.Specimenpreparationandmountingforsuchsystemsisdescribedin6.3iftheyareself-supportingandin6.4iftheyarenotself-supporting.Systemsintendedtobebondedtoapipeorductsubstrate.Specimenpreparationandmountingforsuchsystemsisdescribedin6.5.Reflectiveinsulationmaterials(see3.2.10and3.2.11)shallbetestedusingtheproceduresforspecimenpreparationandmountingdescribedinPracticeE2599.Specimenpreparationandmountingproceduresforsystemsnotdescribedinthispracticeshallbeaddedastheinformationbecomesavailable.SupplementaryMaterials:Itisrecognizedthatsupplementarymaterialsforpipeorductinsulationsystemsarenormallyabletogenerateheat,flameorsmoke.Thus,thefiresafetyoftheentiresystemdepends,atleasttosomeextent,onthefireperformanceofsupplementarymaterials.Consequently,thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsofallsupplementarymaterialsshallbeassessedtoobtainafullassessmentofthefire-test-responseofthepipeorductinsulationsystem.SeeAppendixX1.Supplementarymaterialsareoftenpresentintermittentlyspaced,andnotforanextendedlength,inapipeorductinsulationsystem.Thus,itisnotalwayspossibletosuitablytesttheminconjunctionwithapipeorductinsulationsystem.TestingofSupplementaryMaterials8212;Supplementarymaterialsthathavenotbeenfullytestedinconjunctionwiththepipeorductinsulationsystem,inaccordancewithSection6,shallbetestedforflamespreadandsmokedevelopmentassingle-componentsystems,inaccordancewithTestMethodE84.ThelimitationsforthisprocedurearethoseassociatedwithTestMethodE84.1.1Thispracticedescribesproceduresforsp......
